The appropriate City of Leeds ward is Hunslet and Riverside. The area was a primarily industrial part of the city, exporting iron, wool, and timber via the directly adjacent Leeds Dock. The area eventually fell into disrepair in the 20th century due to de-industrialisation, with the final industrial unit being demolished in the early 2000s. Most of the old roads in the area were demolished in the 1970s to make way for the Leeds Inner Ring Road. Much of the area around Steander is now home to The Gateway, a mixed-use development constructed in 2006. The most recent developments in the area are the Phoenix and Altitude towers, constructed in 2024, and the upcoming Flax Place development scheduled for completion in late 2026. ## Key facts - Parent: Yorkshire and the Humber — https://gamifeye.com/united-kingdom/england/yorkshire-and-the-humber/llms.txt - Coordinates: 53.7937, -1.5316 - Area: 3 km² - Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steander ## Page URL https://gamifeye.com/united-kingdom/england/yorkshire-and-the-humber/steander --- Served by GamifEYE.
